Itaewon went viral on Twitter last year during Halloween 2018 in a post showing it’s crowded costume-clad streets! I was quite surprised myself to learn that many Korean college students were familiar with Halloween. Daiso even sells Halloween decorations, spooky makeup kits, and small Halloween themed accessories.
In the United States, Halloween is celebrated mostly by young children and teens who dress up in costumes and go “Trick-or-Treating”. But here, college kids are the ones dressing up in costumes and roaming the notorious bars, pubs, and clubs of Hongdae and Itaewon. What a treat for all of the older people who thought the glory days of Halloween were over. Those in our early-mid twenties no longer have to succumb to passing out candy or envy the 4-year-old in their spiderman onesie. No. This year, we get to wear the Spiderman onesie.
But why party on the streets when you can party on the seas? The Halloween Cruise Bash departs from Incheon Saturday, October 26th.
For 65,000 you get 4 hours of sailing around the Incheon/Gimpo area with unlimited beer and an amazing firework show. And if you’re still not partied out after the sea excursion, you can enter certain Itaewon venues for discounted venue and drink prices.
