Making the most of your spring at CAU

Korea is one of the best places to see cherry blossoms. Spring is one of the most enjoyable seasons due to the warm temperatures and blooming flowers, and it is the best time of the year to visit parks and enjoy the outdoors. People go out of their way to go “벚꽃놀이” (beotggotnori) or cherry blossom viewing! The cherry blossoms typically bloom at the beginning of April but only last for a couple of weeks. Therefore, you should try to make the most out of your outdoor adventures in Seoul!

Yeouido Hangang Park

The park, in general, is very nice! The green grass makes it the perfect place for having picnics, grabbing some cotton candy, and going on scenic bike rides. Also, you’ll often see children playing in the streams and cooling down.

Yeouido is full of cherry blossom trees and is one of the most popular places to view and enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms. You can find lots of couples taking selfies but it’s also a nice place to grab street food. At night, there are lights that illuminate the cherry blossoms along with art exhibits and street performances.

Seokchonhosu Lake

Other places to visit include Jamsil station, where you can walk to Seokchonhosu Lake. It’s a nice place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of a busy city like Seoul. So why not have a picnic and enjoy a stroll? The lake is surrounded by cherry blossom trees and it is open to the public. There are plenty of activities, performances, and exhibitions to be viewed. There’s plenty of food trucks and vendors around the lake.

Han River

Around campus, you can visit Han River which is only a 15-minute walk from the front gate. There, you can enjoy the beautiful skyline and enjoy the spring sun, making it a great destination to just walk and relax. Also alongside the river, there are exercise machines and seating areas. The Han River is a popular hangout place for the younger crowd to gather and have fun.

CAU Hiking Trail

Near dorm building 308, there is also a short hiking trail where one can witness the blooming trees. It starts close to the gym and ends close to the back gate. The hiking trail takes about 30 minutes to walk and it has scenic views, a bridge, and in there’s plenty of flowers. Make sure to stop and admire the picturesque view!

Green Lounge Rooftop

If hiking isn’t your style and you would much rather see some greenery, a good place to relax would be the floor B3 of building 310. Right next to the green lounge you can sit on the benches enjoy the shade from the trees and relax. It’s a lovely place to take a break from your busy schedule.

Dragon Pond

Last but not least, the dragon pond is a gorgeous place to stop and enjoy the scenery. The pond is clear and has benches all around. You will often see students relaxing here in the evening after class.
