How to Reserve a Seat in the CAU Library

The first time I heard someone say that to use the library you had to reserve a seat I thought it was strange. I mean….I usually just reserve a seat by sitting in it.

But to use the Library at CAU you need to reserve a seat. Since there are no instructions in English it can be a little confusing at first, but once you’ve done it once it isn’t so complicated.

Here’s  a walk-through of how to do it:

Step 1. Find the Ticketing machine (There are machines on the 1st and 4th floors.) You can  reserve a seat for floors 1&2 on the 1st floor, or 3&4 on the 4th floor.

Step 2. Scan your Student ID on the blue pad or a QR code of your E-ID over the red light.

Step 3. Choose your seat. Orange means occupied. You’ll notice that in the right corner you can choose your floor and room. Select a tab and it will show you where that room is on the map on the right side. Choose a room, then choose a seat.

Step 4. Take your ticket. The machine will spit out  a little ticket stub and you are good to go.

Step 5. Forgot your seat number already?? Take a deep breath and  look at your ticket stub. Then find your seat.

You thought we were done. We’re not.

Step 6: Before you leave you MUST RETURN YOUR SEAT.

Find a machine, scan your card and a little window will pop up. It will ask you if you would like to Return, Check Your Seat or Cancel.

If you are wanting to extend, your ticket stub has some valuable information. Note that it lists the hour in which you should return to the machine if you want to extend your reservation. “Extend” option is available only during the extension time(when to renew). It also tells you how many more times is available for you to extend your reservation for the seat.

Good luck! Hope that helps! Now when you enter the library and see this sign, you will know what “ticketing rules” are.
